Are you looking for your first job, or maybe thinking about your next job? This short and friendly two-week online course will give you the opportunity to learn key skills for job-seeking and work including: effective communication with co-workers and customers; essential number skills for work; how to write a CV that reflects your skills and talents; the best ways to complete application forms; how to prepare for and take part in job interviews; and understanding the expectations of employers in the workplace. You will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with your tutor and there will be lots of top tips to ensure that you feel confident in your next job application! This course is for West Sussex County Council area residents only.

Course description

This course is designed to support learners to develop the skills needed to get that interview and then the job!

We have designed this course based on the needs of employers in the West Sussex County Council area, and learners on this course must live within this area.

Learners will have support from two tutors who will work with you to improve your skills and present yourself in the best possible way to employers and during job interviews.

This course will develop your life skills in communication, basic number work, and the expectations of the workplace: all of which are skills that employers are increasingly looking for in their employees.

This course is four online lessons over two weeks covering:

1. Communication in the workplace, both face to face and digital.

2. Using basic numbers in the workplace

3. How to write great CVs and application forms

4. How to plan for and take part in effective job interviews and understanding workplace expectations when you’ve secured that job!

For this online course you will need access to an internet-enabled device such as a tablet or computer.

What financial support is available?

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need.

What other support is available?

All of our digital content, teaching and learning activities and assessments are designed to be accessible so if you need any additional support you can discuss this with the education experts during your enrolment journey and we will do all we can to make sure you have optimal access.
