Course description
In this course, we will explore how to go about travel from sticking a pin in a globe as you decide where to go, tracking down sources of information about obscure destinations to returning with great memories, amazing photos and new friendships forged. We will cover all the elements whether it's searching out ad hoc accommodation, getting vaccinations and visas as well as looking at food choices and what to wear whether you're trekking through jungles, across Arctic tundra or driving across deserts. Pre-departure planning, how to get there, accommodation, health, communication, social media, group vs solo travel, safety and how to get the most out of your independent travel are just some of the topics we cover.
What’s Needed:
-Pen and paper is always useful.
-Maps, books or other sources of inspiration including online ones are welcome.
Learning Outcomes:
-Assess my own skills and develop new ones appropriate for travel
-Name five factors to take into account when planning independent travel.
-Identify how to choose a destination and the preliminary steps required to travel there.
-List three types of paperwork required for travel
-Identify four aids to route planning.
