Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.

Course description
This course builds on the Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness. It is for anyone wanting to further develop knowledge of mental health. If you’re considering careers in social care or counselling, this mental health awareness training is ideal for you.
After taking this course you can progress to various Level 3 Health and Social Care courses. There are many possible pathways, including:
Mental Health
End of life care
Counselling
Mentoring
These qualifications can lead to various jobs in social care, such as care assistant or mental health support worker.
If you are unsure about the right progression, your tutor will be happy to guide and advise you on these options to make sure you find the right pathway for you.
You will be assessed using activity plans, reports, and written or oral questioning. Your supportive WEA tutor will help you with any accessibility requirements you may have.
You’ll need access to the internet to take this course as your tutor will upload useful materials to Canvas, the WEA’s digital learning platform.
