Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

Course description
This course has a fully revised syllabus. You’ll learn the latest best practices and methodologies to support learning. The Award covers the basic aspects of specialist support in primary and secondary school environments.
You will learn important skills for working with children and young people. Develop activities to support learning alongside the teacher. Gain understanding of bilingual support, special needs support, and personal development. Learn how to support child development.
Understand safeguarding practices and how to protect the well-being of children. Recognise health and safety procedures and how they protect children in the classroom.
Your tutor will assess your learning through different tasks. These could include presentations, posters, leaflets, or worksheets. These tasks will be included in your portfolio for assessment.
At Award level, the Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 3 course does not require you to be on a placement. It takes around 120 hours to complete and can usually be done in 6 months.
This is a nested teaching qualification. This means you can "top up" to a Certificate or Diploma to broaden your knowledge.
Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning courses prepare you to enter the workforce and be a source of support to teachers and students in the learning environment.
To take this course you’ll need to have access to the internet. You’ll use Canvas, the WEA’s digital learning portal, for communication and tasks
