Do you help at a school or youth centre? If you volunteer in a setting with children, it’s important to understand basic paediatric first aid. This introduction to paediatric first aid course gives you an insight into some of the essential life-saving skills that can make all the difference in an emergency. This course is ideal if you want to learn the theory behind first aid for children, toddlers and babies which would be useful in a variety of settings, including sports halls, community hubs, and youth centres as well as an insight for new parents. Please be aware this course only courses the online theory behind paediatric first aid such as burns, poisoning, anaphylaxis, eye injuries and effects of electric shocks. This course would be a great introduction to first aid before you go on to complete a full course.

Course description

This paediatric first aid course will teach you essential life-saving skills to use in an emergency.

Paediatric and baby first aid courses teach you crucial skills for dealing with emergency situations involving children. The protocols and procedures differ in children, making this knowledge essential for anyone who has regular contact with kids.

First aid courses are useful for anyone who has contact or a duty of care towards minors. This includes volunteers, babysitters, and parents.

This would be the perfect course to begin to understand more about paediatric first aid and understand the theory before going on to an in person first aid course in the future

You’ll need access to the internet to take this online first aid course. Your tutor will upload useful materials to Canvas, the WEA’s digital learning platform. You’ll also need a digital device such as a laptop, tablet, or phone.
