Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.
Course overview
Course description
The skills you can learn on this course will include how to better budget your money and understand how you can save money on things like energy and food. You will learn how to compare the weight and capacity of everyday objects so you can make comparisons when you go shopping to find the best value and save you money.
You will also learn how to use language skills to communicate effectively with people in your everyday life. This course will support you to become more independent in your everyday life.
The skills you learn on this course will help you better communicate with other people in different areas of your life, for example when using public transport or at the doctor's surgery.
The course is delivered at the Better Futures centre in Plymouth and has been written for the users of the centre in partnership with Better Futures to equip you with the skills you need in everyday life. You will be in a small group with other learners who also attend Better Futures.
