Course overview
Course description
This course has been created to support learners who are moving into independent living from supported living with St Petrocs. Working with the charity the WEA has created this bespoke short course to support learners in making the transition from supported living into independent housing in the private or social housing sector. This short course is part of a programme of short courses that will support learners in all elements of successfully managing a tenancy with a housing provider. This short course is aimed at learners with no or little experience and is suitable for all learners. The course will be delivered face to face in a St Petrocs property to ensure learners can attend without the need to travel. You will learn in a small group environment supported by our experienced tutor who will support you to create your own plan for moving house.
You will be supported to create a checklist for moving that will include how to identify the costs involved in running a home, looking for the best prices for utilities, how to best furnish your new home using a range of sources, who you need to tell when you move home and how to get your possessions moved into your new home.
