Course overview

“You are what you eat”, as has often been said. But information about food is often conflicting and confusing. Why do I always seem get it wrong and nothing ever changes? Maybe it’s time to look at food in a different way. This course looks at some key elements of nutrition and helps you to design your own plan using the tools provided. It also looks at how mindset affects our relationship with food. The skills learnt will help you create a plan that is realistic and based around the individual. This course is suitable for beginners, those with some knowledge and those that want to recap and remotivate. Food really does matter!

Course description

This online course can be done at home. It is friendly, relaxed, and involves as much interaction as you want to give. It is run by a qualified Nutritional Therapist and aims to be realistic in the challenging world of 21st century food.

-You set your own goals.

-Plan your own meals.

-Share ideas with others and discuss what you find difficult.

It is not a diet program and does not offer a set of rules to follow. Rather, it provides a set of tools that can be used to design a healthy lifestyle that works for you and your individual circumstances.

Every body is unique and everyone has a different story. Any successful weight management plan should be realistic and tailored to the genetic and lifestyle needs of the individual. This course breaks down the often-confusing principals of nutrition, giving you a toolkit to establish a healthy lifestyle.

-We will cover basic nutrition science.

-We look at how behaviour affects our chances of succeeding.

-We discuss the challenges presented by the media/food industry.

This course will lead to further study in the field or leave you with a toolkit to use on your own.

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand some basic principles of a healthy lifestyle

2. Demonstrate an understanding of how to plan a healthy and realistic diet

3. Understand how ultra processed foods can affect weight management

4. Demonstrate how mindset may affect dietary choices

5. Apply some dietary knowledge to my individual choices
