This taster session is ideal for you if you are interested in gaining a better understanding and awareness of mental health. This session aims to encourage you to participate in Mental Health Awareness week and to gain an over-view of positive strategies that can be implemented to improve mental well-being. You may want to support your own mental health and well-being, or to gain a better understanding of how to support a family member or friend. You may think that having better awareness of mental health will support you in your role at work. Or maybe you are interested a career that focuses on mental health and well-being. Why not give this session a try? You could progress to a Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness.

Course description

This taster session is not just about passive learning; it's about active participation and empowerment. Through interactive exercises and group discussions, you'll have the opportunity to share experiences, learn from others, and gain practical skills to support yourself and those around you.

Furthermore, the session will highlight the importance of destigmatising mental health issues and promoting a culture of openness and understanding. By fostering a non-judgmental environment, participants can feel comfortable expressing themselves and seeking the help they need without fear of stigma or discrimination.

Moreover, the seated movement practice at the end of the session serves as a tangible reminder of the mind-body connection. By experiencing firsthand how gentle movement can promote relaxation and mental clarity, participants gain a deeper appreciation for the holistic approach to mental well-being that yoga and similar practices offer.

Ultimately, this session is a step towards building a more compassionate and supportive community where mental health is prioritised, understood, and nurtured. It's an invitation to embark on a journey of self-discovery and resilience-building, guided by the principles of empathy, awareness, and self-care.
