This course is designed to support you to develop numeracy to better manage your money. You will become more confident in using numbers, develop new skills, and learn how to make your money go further by developing financial skills. Financial skills give you the ability to understand and effectively manage your personal financial management, budgeting, and investing. When you are financially literate, you have the foundation of a relationship with money, and it is a lifelong journey of learning. The earlier you start, the better off you will be, because education is the key to success when it comes to money. Financial literacy empowers you to be in control of your financial well-being and build a secure future. This course will enable you to use money wisely, make informed decisions about your finances, create budgets, manage debt and plan your financial future.

Course description

Get your number sense to the next level! This is a free course to help you feel in control of your money. You will learn how to save as you shop, budget like a big-shot and freshen up your financial faculties.

On this course you will learn the principles of financial literacy that can be a road map for good money management and build a solid financial foundation. Learning about these principles — and putting them into practice — can improve your financial situation now and in the future.

On this fun-hands-on course, you will work with your tutor to:

• Develop your number sense in practical situations like shopping and meal planning;

• Practise key skills for daily life, such as measuring, weighing and estimating;

• Build up your understanding of the data in bills and bank statements;

• Discover practical ways to save; and budget that work for you.

This course is funded by the UK Government as part of the Multiply Programme, and no previous maths ability is needed.
