Course description
A combined music and art appreciation/history course. Each week we will be focussing on an artist or composer either celebrating major anniversaries (50 or 100) or exhibiting in major London galleries. We will start with a look back at Summer exhibitions (After Impressionism and the Rosettis) and continue with surveys of Franz Hals, Rubens, Herzog and De Muron and other artists at the current exhibitions. We will also be examining the shortlists for the Stirling and Turner Prizes. We will also be celebrating the anniversaries of the composers Gyorgy Ligety and William Byrd together with contemporary artworks and the anniversaries of Roy Lichtenstein and Alexandre Cabanel . The course is suitable for connoisseurs and beginners alike. There are no prerequisites to paint or play an instrument.
