Course overview
Course description
This course will provide opportunities to explore creative music making and will help to develop all the skills needed to perform original compositions and popular songs along with fellow students. The course will cover the following activities: drumming, on both djembe drums (an African style drum) and an electronic drum kit - the students will learn at least one 'beat'; songwriting, where the learners will contribute at least one line of lyrics to an original song; bass guitar tuition, where they will learn a 'bass line' which will be played on either a bass guitar or acoustic guitar; a 'Body Percussion' routine, which is a rhythmic activity where parts of the body are tapped in a set sequence along to a count. Finally, the learners will reflect on their course and what it was like working with others in a recorded interview.
