Monday Music is a hands on music course for adults in Worksop. A fun, educational and suitably challenging course in music, which develops the skills of the learners and helps them reflect on what it is like to work with others in the group. Some of the activities will be recorded, provided the learners give consent, which will help them understand what they are doing right and how they can improve. Beginners and more advanced students are welcome.
This course will provide opportunities to explore creative music making and will help to develop all the skills needed to perform original compositions and popular songs along with fellow students. The course will cover the following activities: drumming, on both djembe drums (an African style drum) and an electronic drum kit - the students will learn at least one 'beat'; songwriting, where the learners will contribute at least one line of lyrics to an original song; bass guitar tuition, where they will learn a 'bass line' which will be played on either a bass guitar or acoustic guitar; a 'Body Percussion' routine, which is a rhythmic activity where parts of the body are tapped in a set sequence along to a count. Finally, the learners will reflect on their course and what it was like working with others in a recorded interview.
