Course overview

Continue to develop your piano/keyboard skills as part of a supportive online group. This course covers a selection of more challenging piano pieces in a range of styles. Pieces will be learnt from sheet music, which can either be printed at home or accessed on your own digital tablet. Whilst learning the piano piece you will also study different performance directions. Please note: this is an advanced level course and participants must have experience of playing a piano or keyboard from sheet music in order to take part.

Course description

An advanced level course helping you to develop your piano or keyboard skills within a supportive online group. As this course is advanced level it requires existing skills to take part. You must be able to play a piano or keyboard from sheet music that includes:

- right and left hand notes in both the treble and bass clefs

- a key signature or accidentals

- moving hand positions during a piece

- a time signature and changing rhythm

All pieces chosen for this course will be learnt from sheet music, which can either be printed at home or accessed on your own digital tablet.

During the course you will learn a range of different scales and exercises as well as in depth music theory discussions related to timing, key signature and performance directions.

Your tutor will undertake an initial assessment with you at the start of the course to confirm suitability in the form of an audio or video assessment. This course is not suitable for beginners.
