Course description

This women-only course will take place at Nottingham Women's Centre. Come together with other women to develop your choral singing skills, as you work as a team to prepare a set list of empowering songs. These songs will then be performed live at a selection of local events on behalf of Nottingham Women's Centre.

The course will cover at least 8 songs from a range of different genres, both building on songs from the previous term, as well as learning new ones. All songs will be learnt by ear, though a copy of the song lyrics will be provided. The course will also cover vocal and breathing techniques to maximise the potential of your singing voice, as well as exploring how to create an overall blended group sound.

This is an advanced level course. To take part in this course, you must be able to:

- comfortably cover a vocal range of at least A3 to C5

- be confident with singing along to a backing track

- hold a melody whilst others are singing something different, such as a harmony or overlapping part

-blend your vocal tone/volume to match the group

Your tutor will undertake an initial assessment with you at the start of the course to confirm suitability. This course would not be suitable for beginners. Contact the tutor directly if you would like to discuss the course content further before enrolling - [email protected]
