Course overview
Course description
Dylan Thomas - original, imaginative and intuitive - brought his obsession with words and imagery into all his work: his poetry, stories, plays and radio broadcasts. But he also fostered a scandalous reputation as a hard-living, drunken, doomed poet who compromised his life and art.
Thomas’s stature as one of the literary greats has been much debated, coloured perhaps by his personality, drunkenness and premature death in New York. We’ll spend a day with Thomas and by close study of excerpts from some of his iconic works such as Under Milk Wood and Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, we’ll see what we make of the “fierce tears” as one of the nation’s favourite poets.
