Course description

More than a century after its original publication, this novel by Robert Noonan - using the name Robert Tressell - remains the most iconic text in the history of British socialism.

The book tells us the story of a group of painters and decorators in “Mugsborough” - Hastings to you and me.

It gives us a real sense of what exploitation, and the socialist response could really mean.

We shall take a detailed look at the story and examine its context to consider whether it is still relevant?

This course is suitable for beginners.
