Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.
Course overview
Course description
This course is for second language speakers who have basic knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary and an ability to understand and participate in simple conversations.
Throughout the course, learners will engage in interactive activities such as role-playing, pair work, group discussions, and debates on various topics to promote active participation. The course will also cover essential communication strategies, including asking for clarification, expressing opinions, agreeing and disagreeing politely, and keeping conversations flowing smoothly. Phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions, and common colloquialisms will be introduced to enhance language use. On this course you will develop your reading skills and feel more confident about reading authentic texts of different genres.
For intermediate learners, engaging in conversations regularly is key. Encouraging the use of richer vocabulary, new phrases, and more complex sentence structures will help boost confidence and fluency. By the end of the course, learners will have gained the skills and confidence to converse more effectively in a wide range of situations, from casual discussions to more formal conversations. They will expand their vocabulary and use more specific, precise words. They will understand and incorporate phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions.
This course is run in a local centre and is free to everyone.
