Course description
With a background in classical art and a love for the using the screen for ‘more than just story’, Peter Greenaway is of Britain’s most celebrated but accessible ‘art house’ directors, his career peaking throughout the 1980s with a series of films some attracting box office attention and some arguably more niche.
You'll get the chance to examine the influences, motivations and intentions behind Greenaway’s work, considering their themes and appeal, do some work better than others? The Draughtsman’s Contract (1982), A Zed and Two Noughts (1985), The Belly of an Architect (1987), The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover (1989), Nightwatching (2007).
