Course description

If you’ve promised yourself one day you’ll start writing, these are the classes for you!

This workshop will introduce you to the exciting genre of travel writing ranging from journalistic reportage, fiction, personal essays and memoir. Writing Travel Stories is an introduction to creative writing techniques to enhance the way you convey the outer journey through a known or unfamiliar landscape as well as the inner journey that accompanies it. Travel stories are often about crossing a frontier in more ways than one! We’ll get inspired with extracts from published stories from Raynor Winn to Pico Iyer and Nadia Owusu and have writing exercises to write our own stories. We can share if we wish and receive gentle appreciative feedback from peers and the tutor. The workshop will inspire you to write, get words on your page and equip you with techniques to experiment with after the class has finished.

All classes are open to writers of all genres and level. They are stand-alone: book for one or come for all!
