Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.

Course overview
Course description
This course explores artist representations of the beautiful region of East Anglia during the 19th and 20th centuries. The course takes a thematic approach to the artists working and works and produced during this period, and you will discover artworks representing and inspired by the weather, urban landscapes and buildings, churches, water and waterways- all iconic features of East Anglia. More specific topics include the Norwich School, Essex, Suffolk, Aldeburgh, Norfolk, the Fenlands, and Cambridgeshire. Our experienced tutor will enable you to recognise the locations within East Anglia which have been repeatedly painted and identify British artists who have represented East Anglia in their work. You will be able to discuss works of art inspired by East Anglia using tehnical vocabulary and recognised and analyse the various genres which the artists of these works were drawn to. Come along and discover unknown works by old masters such as Constable and Turner as well as more contemporary artists such as Maggi Hambling, as well as learning more about lesser-known artists- Anne Valerie Gower, Sylvia St George and Gwen Ravaret. No previous experience of art or the history of East Anglia is necessary- all students are very welcome.
