Course overview

Hyde Park is 140 hectares in area. It is an historic Grade I-listed urban park in Westminster, Greater London. A Royal Park, it is the largest of the parks and green spaces that form a chain from Kensington Palace through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, via Hyde Park Corner and Green Park, past Buckingham Palace to St James's Park. Hyde Park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long Water lakes. For several centuries Hyde Park has been enriched by the installation of many statues and monuments. Enjoy this leisurely stroll around the park and learn about its fascinating history.

Course description

Join us for a guided walking tour through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, exploring a thoughtfully curated selection of landmarks, statues, and memorials. The tour will include a variety of sites chosen from the list below, depending on time and group interest:

Diana Memorial Fountain – Near the Serpentine Bridge

Diana Statue – Located in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace

Diana Memorial Playground – Northeast corner of Kensington Gardens

Serenity – Memorial to the victims of the 7/7/05 bombings, southeast corner of Hyde Park

Statue of Achilles – Southeast corner of Hyde Park

Joy of Life Fountain – East side of Hyde Park

Holocaust Memorial – East end of the Serpentine

Cavalry Memorial – Southeast corner of Hyde Park

Norwegian Navy Memorial – North side of the Serpentine

Boy and Dolphin Fountain – Southeast corner of Hyde Park

Animals in War Memorial – Near Speakers' Corner, east side of the park

Pan Statue – South of Hyde Park, near the Mandarin Oriental Hotel

Queen Caroline Memorial – East end of the Serpentine

Hyde Park Bandstand – Near the east end of the Serpentine

The Reformers’ Tree – Central Hyde Park

Huntress Fountain – Southeast corner of Hyde Park

Apsley Gateway – Hyde Park Corner

Queen Elizabeth Gates – Southeast corner of Hyde Park

Hudson Memorial Bird Sanctuary – Near the Serpentine North Gallery

Peter Pan Statue – West side of the Serpentine, near the north end

This walking tour offers a blend of history, art, and reflection, set within the beautiful green spaces of London. Meet 10.30 am on Friday 20 June 2025 in front of Apsley House - 149 Piccadilly, London W1J 7NT. NOTE The house is on the west side of Park Lane, by Hyde Park underground station
