Course description

We will take a virtual visit to Paycocke’s House, looking at the architecture of the building and the stories of the people who have made it what we see today.

Paycocke’s House has a long history. We will look at the different phases the site from the suggestion of medieval buildings to what we can see today. We will look at how the building has changed over time and investigate the mysteries of marks on the timbers. We will also meet the owner Thomas Paycocke and find out who he employed to decorate his home. Using photos and plans to familiarise yourself with the house and stories, you will have a starting place for an in-person visit in future.
