Course overview

This course is put on in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council and the DWP. It is suitable with learners who wish to improve their English to get ready to apply for a job, who are unemployed and looking for work and who also have English as a second language. Learners with English as a second language, who are looking for work and receiving benefits and aged 19 plus are eligible. If you are in receipt of work related benefits, speak to your work coach at the Job Centre and mention JCP Wolverhampton Hub. Subject to eligibility, travel expenses can be paid. Course description

This course is put on in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council and the DWP. It is suitable with learners who wish to improve their English to get ready to apply for a job. To qualify, learners need to be unemployed and looking for work and also have English as a second language, and receiving benefits. Please note that you have to be aged 19 plus to be eligible for this course.

On Getting Ready for Language@Work, you will study the use of English in the workplace; the type of jobs that are available; develop more self confidence in applying for a job.

You will: Do an assessment to check English abilities; Practice Speaking & Listening; Practice reading & writing; Improve your communication Skills; Get to know the essential services in your city; Understand basic IT – getting an email, searches etc;

Find out about the types of jobs available; Make visits and listen to speakers.

Please note the group will be mixed ability.

There is an information and registration day on Thursday, 18 April 10am-12pm.

Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
