Do you want to start learning English? Come and join First Steps In ESOL. You can meet other people and improve your English skills. Classes are held in a friendly and supportive venue. This course is for beginners and you will need to complete a skills check before joining. After this course, you could move onto an Entry 1 course such as Get ready for ESOL E1.

Course description

On this course you will learn how to start to use English in your day to days lives and to build your confidence in the community and when speaking and dealing with natives in English.

Your tutor will teach you different skills such as;

Use numbers 1-20 in English

Match lower- and upper-case letters

Ask and answer questions in English

Spell out your name, saying the letter names correctly

Match common everyday signs to their meanings in English

Improve your confidence to learn in the community with college in the church. This is a safe place to come and learn at your own pace but also to make friends.

At the end of the course you will have the opportunity to carry on to do First Steps in ESOL 2 or start to work towards your accredited entry 1 qualifications.

What financial support is available?

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
