Course overview
Course description
This pre-entry course will be held at the Digital Skills Hub in Boscombe and will build on your learning experiences. We all know the best thing to learn something new is practice and this course gives you the space to do that.
In this course we will work towards overcoming the language barrier that permits the use of UK digital devices. Language will be taught about all things digital and in session practical and supportive activities will see you thriving in the digital world.
Before the course starts, we assess your level and place you on the correct course for you. There you will be able to access different digital devices (laptops provided – or bring your own) and learn the English words for the equipment (e.g. computer, keyboard, mouse), the software (word, excel, Microsoft) and the internet. You will learn how to log in to devices and websites, and how to access important websites e.g. Job Centre, NHS etc. As you become more familiar with the terms used you can explore apps like google maps and street view, as well as build a community around you that can support you on your English learning journey.
