Course overview
Course description
If English is not your first language, then this course may be for you! Are you often asking people to repeat themselves, or do you nod and smile when you don't understand? Do you wish you could understand the TV better or follow phone conversations more easily? Good listening skills are essential to your English language development and students often never learn specific listening techniques. Each session will be in a friendly, relaxed safe space and led by an experienced tutor. These skills will help your speaking and conversation skills. This course will help you identify the words and focus on the meaning instead of hearing a stream of meaningless sounds. You will also learn alot about the country you live in and the opportunities that surround you. This course is FREE if you are employed and on a low wage or you are claiming benefits. Learners will be encouraged to use their English and gentle tasks such as using questions will be used to facilitate this. Drinks will be provided throughout and learners will be given full support to explore their next steps within the WEA, such as attending future Community Learning ESOL courses, or even progress onto accredited ones.
