Course description

This course is designed to continue to get you even more confident when using your English skills in your day to day life or work. The course is for you if you have an Entry 1 level of English at the moment. Don't worry, you will be tested before you enrol to make sure that you are on the correct course for your level. The course is designed to help you to find more independence by being a step closer to gaining employment.

The course will be run face to face at the Central Library in Bolton, not far away from the bus and train station. It's a local friendly community venue where you will be taught in a classroom by a qualified tutor. The classes will have a mixture of activities including activities to enhance your confidence through the learning of the essential skills such as speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course offered is unaccredited, however it is hoped that it can progress you towards an accredited entry 1 qualification in the skills of Speaking & Listening, Reading, and Writing.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

- Give basic personal information

- Ask for personal information

- Ask for help

- Express likes, dislikes and feelings

- Follow instructions

- Correctly form the letters of the alphabet in upper and lower case

- Spell correctly your own name and address

- Write short sentences about yourself

- Fill in a form

- Use an understanding of letters and sounds to help you spell simple regular words
