Course overview

This is English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course which will be held at a local venue where the course will be taught face to face. This course will help improve your confidence to start speaking and listening, reading and writing in English ready for working in the UK. The course aims to aid you in the first steps of your journey to learning English and help to build your confidence when using the language in your day to day lives and out in the community, as well as helping you to work towards looking for a job here in the UK.

Course description

During the course you will start to learn basic English that will help you better explore and take part in your local community and to help build your employability skills for work. The fully trained tutors will run the classes face to face at Chorley Central Library where you can meet other learners and work together to learn the language. The course will help you to build your confidence when dealing with day to day matters such as looking or work, attending appointments, your children’s school and out in the community. The course is designed for learners who know very little English and who need to build their skills up from learning the alphabet, days of the week, colours, numbers etc to then being able to hold a simple conversation in English. Before you can join the course, your English skills will be checked with a short test so that the tutor can make sure that the class is right for you. This course is for people with little English. You do not need any ESOL qualifications to join. Once you have built your English skills up there will be an opportunity for learners to continue their studies with accredited provision and start to progress onto qualifications.
