Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

Course description
The Pre-Entry ESOL Speaking and Listening course at the WEA is designed for adults who are new to English. This beginner-level course helps you develop essential speaking and listening skills to communicate confidently in everyday situations. You will learn useful vocabulary, practice common phrases, and engage in simple conversations such as greetings, asking for directions, or making small talk. The course is delivered in a supportive environment, with experienced tutors guiding you through various activities aimed at improving your fluency and comprehension.
No prior knowledge of English is needed, making it perfect for those just starting their language learning journey. Upon completion, you'll have the foundation needed to move on to higher-level ESOL courses and gain more advanced communication skills.
Bring a pen and paper, if you have it. The only other thing you need is a positive attitude and a desire to learn. We will help you with all the rest.
