Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.
Course overview
Course description
The course is split into 2 parts. All learners will be given the change after the first course ends to carry on with part 2 or progress onto a pre-entry course at the same venue.
The course will be running face to face at a friendly venue in the community in Burnley. The tutor is experienced and qualified. The course will run for 45 hours over nine weeks.
At the end of the course you will have met the following learning objectives;
1 Be able to introduce yourself to others.
2 Be able to understand simple statements.
3 Be able to read the English alphabet.
4 Be able to listen and identify information.
5 Be able to write your full name.
The course will enable you to start your English studies and give you the confidence to engage in more ESOL provision, enabling you to get used to a classroom environment as an adult and engage with a tutor and peers.
The course will also give learners the opportunity to meet other ESOL learners in their own community and the opportunity for them to engage in a positive manner in a safe environment under the supervision of the tutor.
