Course overview

Develop your basic English skills with this non-accredited course. This English course is for speakers of other languages and is a face-to-face class in a local centre. This ESOL course helps people who want to improve their basic English. It will help you gain confidence to communicate in everyday situations and be part of your community. What we will cover: - Asking for and giving basic personal details/information, asking for help, talking about likes, dislikes and feelings, and following instructions. This course is ran in partnership with CBO (Confederation of Bangladeshi Organisation). This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Course description

Before you can join this course, you will need to do an English test to make sure the course is right for you. For more information and to book an appointment, please call 07825 720554. In this course we will talk about everyday topics like travel, health and where you live. We will practise short conversations and listening for information to help you talk to your neighbours, go to appointments by yourself, or join in with local groups. You will cover the following topics and skills: Give basic personal information; Ask for personal information; Ask for help; Express likes, dislikes and feelings; Follow instructions.

What you need: You will need a personal email address to join the WEA's digital learning platform, Canvas so that you can receive resources, record your progress and achievement and to work with others and share ideas.

Please also bring Official documents showing the correct spelling of your name, address and date of birth; a passport or residence card and proof of any benefits you receive. Also bring any Certificates for any English / English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) qualifications you already have. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority. "

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need.
