Course overview

Learn Pre-Entry English at a pace that matches your level. This course is for speakers of other languages, who wish to not only improve their English, but who also want to learn employability skills. Learning how to speak, listen, read and write in English is tough enough, yet CV’s, job searches and applications are not covered enough in ESOL classes. This course will aim to remove the language barrier so you can access the employability world and improve not only your English but your life here in the UK. This course also aims to get you ready for our ESOL courses, so that nothing can stop you from reaching your dreams!

Course description

This pre-entry course will be held at the Digital Skills Hub in Boscombe and will build on your learning experiences. We all know the best thing to learn something new is practice and this course gives you the space to do that.

In this course we will work towards overcoming the language barrier that hinders your ability to get into employment. Language will be taught about all things employability and in-session, practical and supportive activities will see you thrive in your job search.

Before the course starts, we assess your level and place you on the correct course for you. There you will be able to access different digital devices (laptops provided – or bring your own) and learn the English words important in the work field (e.g. CV, job search, application form). You will learn how to complete application forms and complete a CV, as well as use digital skills to access job search websites and the Job Centre. As you become more familiar with the terms used you can explore the internet for tips and tricks on how to impress in an interview, as well as build a strong community around you that can support you on your English learning journey.
