Course overview

This course aims to equip you with a comprehensive set of skills related to garment measurement, pattern making, patten cutting, garment modification and sewing which will enable you to create and modify clothing to your own personal specification. This, course offers a well-rounded experience that not only supports the development of your practical skills but also encourages personal growth, develop numeracy, English, and digital competencies in an enjoyable and social context.

Course description

During this course you will learn how to measure various dimensions of an existing garment using numeracy and English skills. This includes calculating chest, waist, and sleeve length measurements and effectively communicating the results in a clear and concise manner. In essence, students will develop the ability to accurately measure and document key garment dimensions. You will also learn how to draft a pattern from measurements taken from an existing garment, tailoring the pattern to your personal measurements. You will develop basic pattern cutting techniques and apply them effectively to create a well-fitted and unique garment for your personal project. This includes using alteration techniques and creative elements to transform or enhance a garment to suit your preferences.
