Textiles and Fashion: Clothing Alterations,Teddy Repair and Clothes Swap Cafe

"Have you been waiting for that excuse to be able to learn how to fix your own clothes?  Fed up with getting someone else to do it and paying out money for that privilege?  Perhaps you have been wondering how to take something that once was great and make it shine again?   Do you need some new clothes, wanting to inject a new bit of fun into your wardrobe - then join us to swap your clothes and make like new.   Breathing new life into old garments sat redundant in the back of the wardrobe, is that what you would like?    If that is you.  Come and join us and the Slow fashion revolution.   Ideally you will need to be able to sew to a basic level with your own sewing kit.  You will need to bring a range of items to alter and swap. You are welcome to bring and use your own sewing kit. Sewing machines, fabric scissors and unpickers will be provided by us at the venue.   What skills or experience do I need to join this course?   This course is for beginners and improvers The desire and motivation to fix your own clothes The inclination to swap your clothes with others What else do I need to know? Is there anything I need to bring?   You will need to gather together a range of second hand, previously loved and or broken garments in need of some care and attention.  Dependent on what needs doing to them or what may need replacing, you may need to purchase other resources such as zips or colour matched thread.  Any fabric scraps or badges/ribbons/elastics etc can come in useful when doing such tasks.    You will need: Some motivation and an intention to help save the planet via Sustainable and Slow Fashion A range of garments in need of some care and attention. "
