Course description

Stitches covered on this course will include; running stitch, back stitch, blanket stitch, buttonhole stitch, chain stitch, stem stitch, French knots and how to embellish these stitches further. By using composite stitches (more than one stitch at once) we will create 3D effects, shading, and interest within our work. We will look at how to choose threads and colours to recreate the various floral and vintage templates into a range of sewn embroidery pieces or one final piece. There will also be the option to add applique patches too. Interactive feedback sessions will allow for personalised guidance, ensuring each participant can refine their technique and express their creativity.

We will meet online weekly for 11 weeks, and the tutor will give demonstrations of each of the stitches that will be recorded for you to refer to between the sessions. There will also be handouts to use and plenty of inspiration through class discussion and links to websites and Pinterest, fostering a vibrant community of embroidery enthusiasts.

On completion of this course, you can progress to further craft courses at advanced level and other courses such as digital skills or maths.
