Course overview

Acrylic paint is an incredibly versatile medium. We will look at the properties of this medium, mixing of own colours and different ways of application to a paper or board ground. The session will be an experimental, hands-on approach to the use of acrylics that will inform and develop your own practice. You will produce examples of mark making, produce an ‘underpainting’ and maybe start a painting to be completed in your own time.

Course description

In this session you will learn of the many properties of acrylic paint. You will be encouraged to experiment with and develop your mark making skills, apply your knowledge of colour mixing and by the end of the session start to produce a painting. You will be guided through a series of activities throughout the morning and be encouraged to share your results at the end of the session. For this session you will need a set of primary colours, maybe some white acrylic also if you have some; paper, thin card, board or similar to work on; and some brushes. More information about materials and equipment will be posted on Canvas.
