Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.

Course overview
Course description
This is a hands-on course that is designed for individuals with little to no experience in pottery and who are eager to explore the art of working with clay. Learners will be able to understand the basics of pottery, which includes the types of clay used and all about the tools of the trade. Learners will learn the fundamental techniques of hand-building techniques, such as pinch pot, coil building and slab construction as well as wheel-throwing, and surface decoration to create functional and decorative ceramic pieces. The course fosters creativity while providing a solid foundation in pottery skills, clay handling ,carving , texturing and glazing methods. Learners will also gain an understanding of the firing processes and ceramic finishing. By the end of this course all learners will have a better understanding of working with clay, and will have gained confidence in creating simple functional pieces of pottery by fostering creativity through personal projects and experimentation.
