To provide an introduction to the business skills and craft techniques needed to start a sustainable independent sewing business.
Course description
Sewing can open a world of possibilities. Whether mending clothes, making your own, building confidence in your creative ability or profiting from an enjoyable career change it could hold the key to your future. This course will teach you how to make and/or mend items and develop the skills to start your own business from your ability. You will learn hemming, seem sewing, machine functionality, understanding a commercial pattern and advertising your skills and products. The course is structured into three parts: developing your sewing skills, commercial pattern construction and building a basic business model/marketing strategy.
