Course overview
Course description
Learn about spring flowers, their colours and structure by recording their beauty in watercolour. A gentle course of observation and creativity led by local artist, community member and art tutor Mary Boreham who will demonstrate and guide you step by step to create your own watercolour paintings as spring emerges. By using a different flower each week, we will celebrate the start of the gardening year in all its fresh optimism.
Working and connecting with others in the community is an important aspect of this course and you will support each other to develop your observation and watercolour painting skills. This course is offered with the community organisation Devon Recovery Learning Community (DRLC) with support offered during each session for your wellbeing and positive mental health.
On this course, we will learn to:
· Draw a flower with observation and accuracy;
· Layer different colours of paint to produce the subtle and complex replication of nature;
· Use a variety of paintbrushes to achieve different effects;
· Learn to 'look' and 'see' with a critical eye;
· Express views about your own painting and the work of others.
