Course overview
Course description
This exciting new course is an opportunity to apply existing practical and theoretical skills. You will make a collection, or series of mosaic works with a view to exhibit to the public. This event will be launched by a craft fair at the same venue. Your mosaic work will display the quality of finish, design, skill level and price bracket that would appeal to customers or potential commission work.
After planning the group community mosaic, if an opportunity arises to bring the project to life, preparations can begin with the aim of continuing and installing it during the next course.
Transferable skills will be gained through this course such as IT skills for research, numeracy skills when calculating costs, and social skills when interacting in the group setting and with the public. You will be encouraged to push your own boundaries by reflecting on your strengths and weaknesses and setting your own goals.
All equipment is provided, or you can bring your own. You will need to purchase some materials from the tutor at cost price, which might include china, glass, bases, adhesive and grout, etc. Aprons are provided or you can bring your own.
