Have you learnt the basics of painting in watercolours and are looking for fresh ideas? Do you want to learn and develop the use of watercolours alongside different art media? Why not join this course to explore your own creativity, find inspiration and receive support and encouragement? This ten-week course aims to provide ideas and techniques for working spontaneously and expressively as well finding sources of inspiration and methods for using a variety of drawing and painting media with watercolours. You will also have the opportunity to share ideas and take part in weekly discussions about your artworks with the tutor and other students on the course. This online course also follows on from Q00019810 but you can also attend if you haven't attended that course.

Course description

This 10-week course is aimed at intermediate level students and will introduce methods for finding inspiration when using different drawing and painting media alongside watercolours. It also aims to help you to explore ways of working spontaneously and expressively.

Sessions will contain ideas for exploring self-expression and encourage you to try new ways of approaching your paintings. There will be the opportunity to see and use a variety of sources including books, handouts, photographs, sketchbooks as well as ideas that emerge during the sessions.

Weekly vocal discussions and tutor feedback will enable you to take part in sharing ideas and constructive comments about your artworks and as well as that of other students on the course.

Teaching will include the use of a variety of creative prompts, demonstrations, downloadable handouts and other relevant online resources on Canvas and the Internet. Discussion groups on Canvas will also be made available for you to upload images of your artworks to and receive written encouragement and comments from the tutor and other students on the course.

Options you might want to take-up after this course, include a further follow on intermediate watercolour course.
