Course overview
Course description
The Animal World is our theme to explore a range of craft, drawing and painting techniques and materials. We will look at how different cultures through time and across the world portray animals and experiment with creating work in these different styles.
We will be printing with foam board and lino printing, drawing with pastels, creating card pillars or masks and decorating them with animal imagery, and making a small indoor mosaic on an animal theme. Each demo will provide materials for students to experiment with and see what they would like to continue using, so that students can try before purchasing their own.
Topics and imagery will be provided by the tutor, but students are encouraged to explore and find imagery and other resources that they are interested in. There will be sessions planned for students to finish work and for students to suggest topics and images, as well as materials they would like to experiment with.
This is a friendly and supportive group, offering space for experimentation. This activity includes materials that can stain and spoil clothing, students are encouraged to bring an apron or over-shirt.
