Course description

The aim for this Intermediate Mosaic course is to develop and build on your initial skills and advance your own practice. This can be achieved in all areas including cutting skills, original designs, use of materials and creating a professional finish overall. This is also an opportunity to explore different mosaic techniques such as the mesh or embedded method. You will be given a refresher session on the use of Andamento and encouraged to explore the possibilities in your own work. You will be challenged to push your own boundaries by reflecting on your strengths and weaknesses during the feedback sessions and also to set your own goals. You will also develop your digital skills by contributing to online discussions, uploading pictures of your work and reflecting on your own projects and those of others.

All equipment is provided, or you can bring your own. Most students will need to purchase some materials from the tutor at cost price; depending on the project this might include china, glass, bases, adhesive and grout, etc. Aprons are provided or you can bring your own.

On completion of this course, you can progress to a further craft course at advanced level. You can also progress to maths, English and digital skills courses to develop your wider skills.
