Course overview
Course description
The Animal World is our theme to explore a range of painting and drawing techniques and materials. We will investigate how different cultures through time and across the world portray animals and explore painting in these different styles.
Topics and imagery will be provided by the tutor but learners are encouraged to explore and find imagery and other resources that they are interested in. There will be sessions planned for students to finish work and for students to suggest topics and images.
Materials will include water colour, acrylic, soft and oil pastels and others that the group may suggest, with sessions on preparing paper canvases and choosing paints, brushes, palette knives and other tools. Each demonstration will provide materials for learners for experiment with and see what they would like to continue using, so that learners can try before purchasing their own.
This is a friendly and supportive group offering a space for experimentation.
This activity includes materials that can stain and spoil clothing, learners are encourage to bring an apron or overshirt.
