Writing with Hand Embroidery for beginners and improvers

This course is designed as an introduction to stitching individual letters and a variety written styles using Hand Embroidery. During the course we will look at different styles of type and letters from cursive writing to abstract Graffiti style writing. There will be a series of presentations on the various styles covered and a project in which you can choose a form of lettering and create a word or short phrase to embroider using the skills being learned during the course. We will use a mix of simple embroidery stitches and learn how to layer stitches to create new effects.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

-Demonstrate a variety of stitches used for hand embroidered letters.

-Expand your skills and gain confidence in creating your own designs.

-Design a simple word or phrase and transfer to fabric.

-Identify the best stitches to create different types of embroidered lettering.

-Use the skills you have learned to embroider your own design.
