Course overview

Making cards is a rewarding hobby in and off itself, but what do you do with all the cards you have made? Join me on this exciting course as we investigate how to turn your hand cards into an extra source of income. On this course we will look at creating cards and other paper-craft items for general sale and also how to start dealing with commissions. This course is aimed at paper-crafters of all levels, whether you already hold stock and are ready to start selling or you want some idea of what cards and other items are likely to sell and build your stock accordingly.

Course description

On this creative course we will be looking at how to turn your handmade crafts into profitable sales, whether you wish to sell online, at your local market or at craft fairs.

As crafters we buy so many supplies – cardstock, paper pads and embellishments and turn them into beautiful cards and other items. Sometimes we have a specific recipient in mind or we just try out a new fold and make a set of cards with no recipient in mind.

During this course we will look at:

v How much should I charge?

v Where to buy supplies

v Valuing your time

v Possible outlets

v Dealing with commissions

During each session you will have the opportunity to view and offer feedback on your fellow crafters. You will also receive feedback from your peers and the tutor to enable you to improve your craft skills. This sharing of work across the group can be incredibly inspiring, generate ideas and help build confidence in your own creativity.

After this course you will be able to build on your crafting skills by enrolling on another course. What about ‘Easter Cards and Crafts’ or ‘Diorama and Pop-Up Cards’ or maybe ‘Mini-Albums and Storage Folders’ is more your thing.
