Course overview
Course description
The aim for this Beginners Mosaic course is to gain basic knowledge and skills in this creative art form. You will be guided as to how to use the various tools and encouraged to explore some of the effects that the materials can offer in mosaic, be it glass tesserae or upcycled pottery. You will create mosaics using the Direct Method and, if time, begin exploring other methods. As confidence progresses, you will be encouraged to design your own mosaics using research skills to help develop individuality. You will take part in group discussions during which you will reflect on your work and offer feedback on others'.
All equipment is provided, or you can bring your own. Most students will need to purchase some materials from the tutor at cost price; depending on the project this might include china, glass, bases, adhesive and grout, etc. Aprons are provided or you can bring your own.
On completion of this course, you can progress to an intermediate level craft course, maths, English or digital skills courses.
