Gender Equality Awareness Women

The Gender Equality Awareness Workshop for Afghan Refugee Women in the UK is a 2-hour interactive session designed to empower participants by providing essential knowledge about gender equality, rights, and opportunities in their new home. This workshop takes a culturally sensitive approach, acknowledging Islamic values and Afghan traditions while introducing participants to UK laws, social norms, and available support systems. Through engaging discussions, real-life case studies, and expert guidance, attendees will explore key topics, including women’s legal rights in education, employment, and family life, pathways to financial independence, and access to healthcare and wellbeing services. The workshop also includes strategies for self-advocacy, building confidence, and establishing community networks. Designed to be practical and informative, this session will help Afghan women understand their rights under the Equality Act 2010 and Human Rights Act 1998, recognize protection against discrimination and domestic abuse, and access education, employment, and financial resources. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with greater awareness, confidence, and access to resources that support their empowerment and integration into UK society, ensuring they can build a secure and independent future for themselves and their families.
