Lynne Smith, President & National Officer
Born and raised in North London but now living in Folkestone Kent, Lynne started volunteering for the WEA more than 30 years ago. She started as a student and wanted to get back to learning as she loved literature. She became involved at a local level in Folkestone and became part of the national trustees around 20 years ago.
Lynne was Deputy President for 8 years and has been President since 2016, the first female President in the history of the WEA. Her role is to be the elected representative for members and volunteers around the country. In addition to the WEA, Lynne was also a Town Councillor for 5 years and also volunteers for local organisations as well as running a family business.
