Jon Gamble MBE, Externally co-opted Trustee

As Director of Adult Learning at the former Skills Funding Agency, Jon led and advised on the design, development and implementation of many high profile national adult learning funding policies, including Community Learning.

He wrote numerous adult learning policy papers for the relevant government departments including a commission to research and produce a suite of adult learning policy proposal papers entitled ‘What Should Government Support?’ Many of the recommendations were subsequently accepted and incorporated into national funding policy.

During his time at the Skills Funding Agency he made regular speaking appearances at national conferences, on radio and TV and contributed to other debates on different aspects of public funding policy for adult learning in England. 

He was awarded the MBE in 2008 for his services to further education. 

Jon retired in 2014 having spent 42 years working in the sector.  He is now also a governor at another Adult Learning Institution in London and the Chair of a local Community Heritage Charity near Worcester where he lives.
